This hike will follow the entire length of Jackson’s line, exploring along the way the nuances of the place and the intense bursts of combat along the Unfinished Railroad on August 29 and August 30, 1862. The hike will include a slight detour to walk the footsteps of Union soldiers during Porter’s Attack, the largest Union attack of the battle. Wear sturdy shoes; bring water and a snack; and wear bug repellent.
