“The single greatest threat to Manassas National Battlefield Park in nearly three decades."
Fmr. Superintendent Brandon Bies
The Manassas Battlefield Trust strongly opposes rezoning and data center development on historic land adjacent to Manassas National Battlefield Park. We need your help.
From our Board of Directors:
The Manassas Battlefield Trust strongly endorses the National Park Service Superintendent's statement of opposition to the proposed zoning change that would allow the development of data centers along Pageland Lane and adjacent to the Manassas Battlefield Park. His statement that this data center development would adversely affect the cultural resources within and adjacent to the battlefield and would negatively affect the visitor experience and enjoyment of this national treasure is both correct and undeniable. He has also proclaimed that this ill advised zoning change and consequent development of numerous data centers adjacent to the battlefield is the greatest threat to the Manassas National Battlefield Park in nearly thirty years.
The Trust also strongly endorses the statement of the Prince William County Archaeologist, Justin Patton, who has gone on record stating that the rezoning effort along Pageland Lane to allow for the development of numerous data centers would have negative consequences for both the natural and historic resources within and adjacent to the battlefield.
We agree and respectfully request that the Supervisors of Prince William County reject this proposed rezoning and commit themselves to the preservation and protection of our national heritage as represented so proudly by the Manassas National Battlefield Park.
